Penelope’s practice is organic with primary work based mainly on drawing. She takes a holistic approach and mark-making through layering and repetition are a vital part of her practice. Her work is vibrant and colourful and she investigates these processes through painting and printmaking. While working full time, she embraced studying for a part-time degree in Fine Art at AUB where she learned to contextualise and abstract her work. Since retiring she has enjoyed the camaraderie of the Creech Barrow Artists, and is relatively new to both painting en plein air and oils. She loves the spontaneity and immersive qualities of working outside and the challenges of painting different aspects of the beautiful Jurassic Coast and countryside. The joy of nature, landscape and place is reflected in her work.
